Rainy River Mine, Ontario, Canada
Rainy River is a gold mine located in Northwestern Ontario, Canada, approximately 50 kilometres northwest of Fort Frances.
Exploration Activities
For the year ended December 31, 2024, exploration activities at Rainy River focused on sustaining mill throughput beyond 2029, and targeting areas located nearby existing infrastructure, which would likely require minimal capital investment to bring into production. As such, infill drilling of near-surface targets with potential for open pit extraction, including NW Trend, Zone 280, and ODM East, was conducted in the second quarter. Exploration drilling conducted from surface also tested the strike extension of Intrepid and the down-plunge extension of ODM Main and 17 East Zones at depth, while underground drilling targeted the Gap zone located between the Intrepid and Main Zones. In September 2024, the company provided an update on the ongoing Rainy River exploration program, highlighting successful expansion of gold mineralized zones.
New Afton Mine, British Columbia, Canada
The New Afton mine is located in South-Central British Columbia, near Kamloops.
Exploration Activities
For the year ended December 31, 2024, exploration efforts at New Afton focused on near-mine zones located above the C-Zone extraction level, prioritizing opportunities with the potential to extend mine life with minimal capital investment. An exploration drift was developed from the base of the Lift 1 Cave to provide ideal drill platforms for the K-Zone and AI-Southeast targets. Drilling from the drift commenced as planned during the three months ended June 30, 2024, along with additional exploration drilling to extend the D-Zone resource envelope. In September 2024, the company provided an update on the ongoing exploration program at New Afton, highlighting positive exploration results in the eastern part of the mine, where high-grade copper-gold porphyry mineralization was intersected.
Exploration efforts during the three months ended December 31, 2024, remained focused on potential near-mine copper-gold zones located above the C-Zone extraction level, including K-Zone.
Strategy
New Afton is continuing to advance its organic growth strategy focusing on new mining zones that have the potential to extend mine life. There is a strong focus on K-Zone in 2025, where the company is strengthening its position to delineate the zone’s high-grade core and grow its overall footprint.
In addition, the company is applying its vectoring knowledge to explore for new zones of copper-gold porphyry mineralization within its land package and advance other strategic opportunities for mine life extension. New Afton's processing plant, infrastructure and tailings storage facility have sufficient capacity to process significantly more ore beyond the current New Afton mine life.
Customers
The company sells its gold and copper concentrate production from New Afton to three different customers under off-take contracts.
The company is not economically dependent on a limited number of customers for the sale of its gold and other metals because gold and other metals can be sold through numerous commodity market traders worldwide.
