Seasonality
Historically, with some exceptions, the company generates the highest quarterly revenues during the fourth quarter in each year (year ended December 31, 2020). The fourth quarter has historically been the period in the year in which the highest volumes of media placements and retail-related consumer marketing occur.
Clients
The company serves a large base of clients across the full spectrum of industry verticals. It serves the same clients in various geographic locations, across multiple disciplines, and through multiple Partner Firms. Representation of a client rarely means that the company handles marketing communications for all brands or product lines of the client in every geographical location.

MDC Partner Firms compete for business and talent with the operating subsidiaries of large global holding companies, such as Omnicom Group Inc.; Interpublic Group of Companies, Inc.; WPP plc; Publicis Groupe SA; Dentsu Inc.; and Havas SA.
The company’s Partner Firms also face competition from consultancies, such as Accenture and Deloitte.
Acquisitions
In July 2020, the company acquired the remaining 10% ownership interest of Veritas.
In March 2020, the company acquired the remaining 22.5% ownership interest of KWT Global.
